Cynthia “Wally” Hoeger

Minister of Faith Formation

Before coming to MBCC, Wally served for six years as the Director of Children and Youth Ministries at First Congregational Church of Long Beach. She also has worked in fundraising and staff training for the YMCA in Orange County and with the Downtown Association of Youth Services in Long Beach to develop and oversee a summer day camp program for at-risk teenage girls.

Active in the church from a young age, Wally served on regional boards and worked on staff at Pilgrim Pines Camp as a teen. She graduated from Chapman University with a double major in Religious Studies and Leadership & Organizational Studies. Wally continued to serve on the local, conference, and national level through her work with the Association of United Church Educators (AUCE) and the Western Christian Educators Conference.

Wally is currently pursuing her Master of Divinity Degree at Claremont School of Theology and is under care with both the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ. Passionate about spiritual practices, Wally loves to explore new ways to bring them into the everyday lives of children, teens, and adults. She is also passionate about supporting and equipping parents to engage in faith formation at home.   Wally lives in Long Beach with her wife Kelly and their many chickens, cats, and dogs.
