Tuesday Bible Study
BYOB (bring your own Bible)
Every Tuesday through November 2nd, Rev. Matthew will assist Donna Thorpe and Arita Wong in a special four-week Bible study series discussing the book, “More Beautiful Than Before: How Suffering Transforms Us” by Rabbi Steve Leder. It is not necessary to read the book to join in the discussion, but it is available at the library or for purchase at Target and Amazon. We will meet in the Fireside Room and via Zoom at noon on Tuesdays. All are welcome. Please wear a mask if you come in person.
The World's Most Dangerous Bible Study offers a parallel approach of a scripture and a song, TV program, etc. that deepens our understanding of the Bible and also helps us find God in unexpected places.
One of the oldest debates in Christianity is “who then shall be saved?” A widely held view is that good or Christian people go to Heaven, and wicked or non-Christian people go to Hell. Our song this week, “Ghost Riders in the Sky” takes a spooky but fun look at one side of the debate. Our scripture Romans 5:12–21 takes the opposite view. It has been used to argue that everyone is welcomed into God’s Kingdom. Come and join us as we study them. Rev. Baugh leads the class, which meets on Wednesday at 7:00 pm by zoom
